Overview / Usage
AppGameKit Studio is the spiritual successor to AGK classic and furthers the ability of users to easily and quickly create apps and games. Designed and built from the ground up to fully support the AppGameKit Script language. Edit multiple projects at any one time and set the layout that suits your workflow. Powerful editing tools help you code fast and efficiently such as auto-complete command help to the handy sandbox mode where you can quickly try out code tests. With a fast development and testing environment, you can code your apps once and then compile them almost instantly for testing on desktop or broadcast over wifi to your mobile devices. Help is always at hand with the new integrated help window. The integrated search makes it a cinch to find the advice you need from the hundreds of documented commands. You can even drag & drop commands from help directly into your source code space. AppGameKit Studio is what happens when programmers who've perfected their craft over decades get the rare opportunity to develop their own IDE and their own programming language to create apps and games.
Methodology / Approach
Our approach is born from the experience in creating similar game making software tools, and knowing the importance of interfaces that are easy to use and deliver results quickly. We rely on relatively basic tools and standards to create our software, with nothing more than the leading platform IDEs, OpenGL and Vulcan frameworks and a lot of R&D to ensure we overcome the many varied challenges of creating a games engine from scratch, and then layering a full language compiler and modern IDE on top of this.
In addition to having extremely talented coders, good project management is key to ensuring development results in a stable commercial product and having the resources in place to maintain and grow that product year in year out.
Technologies Used
Technologies used to create this software are Visual Studio, XCODE, Eclipse, GitHub, OpenGL & Vulcan and IMGUI.
We primarily use PC hardware to develop and test, using Intel motherboards and processors to leverage the performance tools such as Graphics Performance Analyser to deep dive the rendering aspects of the software for performance tuning.
