Intelligent traffic and transport systems (ITTS) using internet of things (IoT) smart city technology, provide intelligent, security-enabled, and integrated traffic control systems that are one solution to ensure smooth operation of day-to-day traffic as well as identifying the best route for first responders. An effective ITTS provides an ecosystem of wireless and wire-line system combined with cloud technologies, multi-access edge computing (MEC) and vehicle to infrastructure technology. Since time is of the essence when an alarm is sounded, the system must be developed to minimize system latency. An ITTS must anticipate traffic problems using machine learning algorithms and pick the best and fastest route for the first responder.
