Overview / Usage

According to the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations (UN), trans-boundary plant pests and diseases affect food crops, causing significant losses to farmers and threatening food security.

Our project extends the research done in 2018 on changes in thermal infrared spectra of plants to create a standalone device/solution that can help in detection of diseases before it even happens. Typical wavelengths observed for plant imaging experiments are the visible (400–700 nm), near-infrared (NIR; 700–1100 nm), and short-wave infrared (1100–2500 nm) regions. Since, Infrared thermography imaging can detect relative differences in leaf surface temperature by detection of infrared radiation from leaves. We believe this will go a long way in helping in detection of diseases before they even appear to the naked eye.
