Overview / Usage

My brief from Intel was to create a stunning, original, and unique system for the 2021 Intel Gamer Days campaign. This project was required to fit dual ATX systems, with one dedicated to gaming while the secondary system could handle streaming, rendering, or whatever else you want to throw at it.

My biggest issue will be either scratch building or customizing an off-the-shelf case. There is a lot of hardware to fit into this build and that meant a lot of planning to ensure that everything can be used as intended. Researching led me to a number of options, deciding to use a pair of off-the-shelf cases, that could be modified for the intended purpose of this build.

With the case choice decided, on completion it needed to feature intel branding in some way, so deciding on a custom paint scheme and subtle etching to the glass panels seemed like a great way to achieve this.

Finally, this system will be given away by Intel to support a great cause, Technovation. Given the scope of this build, every single detail has to be perfect!

Methodology / Approach

Trying to find an off-the-shelf case to fit this type of system is impossible, so I customized two Raijintek Enyos for a complete 360 degree open-framed build. The modular design of the chassis allowed me to make some modifications to the panels, drilling and cutting out parts to allow for the motherboard trays to be placed back to back.

With the main frame of the case built, I then had to relocate the power supplies, usually situated to the rear. The PSU brackets have been modified to sit under the bottom shrouds and these are hidden using frosted, backlit acrylic panels. These panels were drawn up in CAD after measuring the shrouds for fitment and then laser cut. Being 5mm thick allowed me to attach some thin RGB strips for the lighting effect.

With so many fans and RGB products in this build, I used the Corsair iCue ecosystem. This required two Commander Pro units per side, fitted again under the bottom shroud using custom, 3D printed mounting brackets. There are also custom 3D printed brackets used to mount the Alphacool dual reservoirs as the standard Enyo case does not align to the Alphacool fitment.

Paint is not my strong point so this was outsourced, given the scope of the project I wanted something hard-wearing, the powder coating is RAL matched to the Intel branding with the bottom shrouds swapped over for added contrast.
