Overview / Usage
The "Interactive Volumetric Path Traced Cloudscape" interactive rendering demo delivers a large-scale volumetric cloudscape composed of VDB-formatted volumes. As part of the Intel® oneAPI Rendering Toolkit, the Intel® Open Volume Kernel Library accelerates volume computations and Intel® OSPRay delivers scalable rendering across multiple compute nodes. The application front-end is built on Intel® OSPRay Studio.
Intel® Open VKL can be used by any renderer to improve volume rendering capabilities and performance.
Intel® OSPRay provides a scalable and extensible rendering infrastructure, which can be used for render-preview and interactive applications to accelerate authoring and other artist or look development workflows.
Intel® OSPRay Studio provides a clean and simple application front end for test driving all of OSPRay’s bleeding-edge features.
Methodology / Approach
In this demo, we’ll show interactive rendering of a large-scale volumetric cloudscape, making use of Intel® oneAPI Rendering Toolkit.
This demo makes heavy use of three oneAPI Rendering Toolkit components:
- Intel® Open Volume Kernel Library: Supporting all volume computations used in the rendering.
- Intel® OSPRay: Providing the renderer itself, and supporting scalable, cluster-based rendering: in this case on a cluster of 10 compute nodes.
- Intel® OSPRay Studio: Providing a flexible application front-end for interacting with and manipulating the scene, and test driving the oneAPI Rendering Toolkit's latest features.
