Product Idea: EquWomen

EquWomen Mobile Application will

· Educate women about their rights through text, audio, video content available in regional language

· Provide online legal guidance through forums, helplines, private chats and personal assistance

Overview of our solution

· The main idea is to develop a mobile application to educate women in rural areas about their equal rights health and education.

· The users can sign up to the application.

· The mobile application mainly consists of all the information about the equal rights of women by the Government. The contents are available in all the local languages and video contents are also available so that it could easily reach the women who are not able to pursue their education also.

· The other most prominent feature of the application is that it has also support services so that the women could clarify their doubts regarding their rights in the forum available. Chat bots and legal professionals would be there to assist them.

· The women could also ask for help in the mobile application by specifying the details of the help on the basis of anything on which they were denied equal rights. The message will be forwarded to the local legal professional and they will come in to aid them.

Features of our solution:

**Know your Rights: **Our mobile app provides all the legal services such as education women about their rights and laws through text, videos and audios available in their regional language.
**Online Forum: **There is also an online forum where a woman can post her queries, legal doubts and seek opinions by posting the question. Any qualified legal professionals can answer and give a legal opinion.
Chat with legal Professionals: For privacy, the user can also start private chat with legal professionals to seek advice and guidance

Possible Innovation at a later stage

**24/7 Helplines: **Women can call helplines both available online and offline not only through mobile app but also call and get connected to a legal professional to seek legal guidance.

**Connect with NGO: **Any women who require assistance related to health, abuse, denial of rights can contact an NGO. The app automatically connects to the registered NGOs and the intimation will be forwarded to particular NGO to address the issue.

**SOS call: **Women face harassment in many situations and if a woman feels unsafe at home, public and elsewhere, she can just turn on the SOS call by pressing predefined sequence such as fast triple press of power button. The relatives, Police in that area will be notified immediately and will help the woman in need as soon as possible.

Scalability:

The application is to be first deployed in the districts of Madurai, Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu and later be expanded to other districts and states of India especially concentrating on the rural women community

Challenges faced in scalability of the application

**1. How to make awareness about the app among rural women? **
Solution: Thanks to Digital India, now almost everyone has access to mobile phone and internet access even in remote villages. So now our main objective is to make women part of this system EquWomen. The awareness about this app can be made in remote rural areas and promoted by volunteers, referral programs and Women Self Help groups etc.

**2. What’s in there for legal professionals? **

Solution: The popularity of the legal professionals gets increased if he/she responds to more number of queries and thus widening the scope of his career.
The lawyers will get a salary cut from the revenue generated from the ads in the app.
There is no other roles or profession can involve and help the victims, thus the whole helping community will be lawyers assisted by NGOs.

The application focuses on women community of Madurai and Tirunelveli districts with a population of 13.7 lakh people. Further the application can be extended to other districts of Tamil Nadu and states of India
