Overview / Usage

<< Return to GDC Showcase 2021 Group

Intel offers numerous tools to assist game developers in realizing their visions.

These tools include:

  • Intel® Graphics Performance Analyzers - performance analysis for games and other graphics applications >> find rendering, shader and texture bottlenecks;
  • Intel® VTune™ Profiler - in depth performance and power analysis >> analyze code, line by line, to find bottlenecks;
  • OpenVINO™ - optimize deep learning models >> object recognition in games;
  • Intel® oneAPI Rendering Toolkit - generate photorealistic images >> awesome cutscenes
    • Intel® Embree - raytracing kernels that optimize photorealistic rendering,
    • Intel® Open Image Denoise - filter visual noise,
    • Intel® OSPRay - raytracing API and engine,
    • Intel® Open SWR - rasterizer that processes datasets on CPU,
    • Intel® Open Volume Kernel Library - rendering and simulation processing of 3D spatial data with low-level volumetric data-processing algorithms;
  • Intel® oneAPI Video Processing Library - video encoding, decoding and frame processing for streaming on CPU, GPU and other accelerators without impacting gaming performance.

With these - free software tools, developers have a powerful set of tools to maximize game performance.

  • Ensure your game works optimally across various CPU/GPU platforms.
  • Find rendering bottlenecks, examine the time it takes to perform various elements of a draw call.
  • Explore draw calls, visualize CPU and GPU loads simultaneously and analyze hardware counter data.
  • Improve streaming performance.
  • Create photorealistic cutscenes.

Game developers can use these tools in tandem with today's most popular game engines to create compelling experiences. For this showcase session, we show an example of how one game studio leveraged Intel OpenVINO in Unity to provide powerful inferencing capabilities and real-time in-game character recognition.

In addition, we tell you how these tools have helped game developers in other ways.

Our tools support popular APIs (Microsoft* Direct3D11 && Direct3D12, Vulkan) and game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine).
