The BenchBox is my submission for the Level-Up Case Mod Challenge sponsored by Intel. I have noticed a distinct lack of more functionally oriented case modifications both in terms of the submissions for this contest and in general, and this is a niche I hope to occupy by making a functional PC Case. ...learn more

Overview / Usage

The goal of this case mod for me is to bring case modding out of the realm of a niche aesthetics choice for show PCs and into the realm of something seriously considered by a broad range of people seeking the most out of their computer. I have always been a fan of computer tuning, be it from hardware mods such as PCB changes to overclocking of every last component in your computers. This has slowly driven me towards test benches, however, I believe that with the proper case, one could be persuaded to move permanently to testing their computer with a complete enclosure.

In order to do this, I aimed to find features lacking on standard computer cases that people such as myself like adding. This led me to a variety of sources, including the discord of someone who I've purchased from in the past, Elmor, an overclocker focused on empowering the overclocking community. This purpose is aligned with my own and seeing how his products could be integrated into a computer I got an idea.

Computer cases often lack the necessary levels of monitoring and control demanded by overclockers, and so a case that could provide the extended functionality that one would normally need to add in slowly, I would be able to organize into one complete package. The BenchBox was thus born, a case made entirely for computer overclocking, monitoring, and testing, designed to break records and provide ease to people such as myself.

I aim to incorporate a broad range of features into the BenchBox. These range from aboard power management and signaling bus monitoring to a variety of built-in thermocouples and thermometers to give precise readings to a removable motherboard tray. The BenchBox aims to incorporate a few of the features that are missing in the eyes of overclockers and the computer tuning community.
