Overview / Usage
I stay in Kisumu City, Kenya. I really had a problem knowing when our septic tank will be full. This made us incur loses since too much water was going going to waste as overflow. This prompted me to develop a smart device that could check the water level and when the tank would be full, it would close the inlet tap. it also allowed me to have real-time monitoring of the water reservour and many more advantages. When my grandfather(Whom I stay with) started building the rental houses in the compound, we had a problem managing the shallow sewers because of constant spill overs. This became tragic when there was cholera outbreak that affected around 10 tenants from our estate. Then I realize that in KISUMU city the KIWASCO (Kisumu water and sewerage company) really relied on the information from the public to know when these sewers were full or not. This became my motivation to extend the scope of my original TRID project to provide real-time information about water reservoirs in the town and even sewer levels (all being managed by KIWASCO).
TRID focuses in maintaining a clean city by avoiding sewage spill overs and conserving water within the city. I use simple arduino uno boards, ultrasonic sensor, gsm module, LEDs and LCD. The board has real-time connection to a web address and provide real-time results for close monitoring via a web interface..
