I found an original Apple IIc computer in an estate auction. Time hasn't been kind to it, but I'm excited to restore it and getting it running again. A couple of hours of driving later it was mine. This is my restoration log. ...learn more

Overview / Usage
I never owned an Apple II, but I remember using one back in school. By chance I found one in an estate action. It's in rough shape, but salvageable. I've previously restored a Commodore 64 and an Amiga 500, and I'd like to see if I can restore this one too. First impressions, this is looking to be my most difficult restoration yet, but I'm up for the challenge.
Methodology / Approach
This is a project that requires a lot of research. Having never owned an Apple II, I needed to figure out what to expect. It's also good to check if anyone has shared their solutions to any similar problems I'm encountering.
I don't have any cables, video or power, but I can make my own.
The motherboard needs to be inspected, and potentially repaired. Old systems like these often need new capacitors. Chips and traces may be oxidized, or outright bad. Some chips may be socketed, and others may need to be de-soldered. The power supply might also need some attention.
The extreme yellowing of the case is something we can solve by coating it with a peroxide solution, and exposing it to UV light.
Other details we'll figure out as we go.
