Overview / Usage

Greetings!

I had a lot of fun designing and drawing up my interpretation of the Ultimate LAN PC. I spent a lot of time theory crafting a build that would not only have the power and performance to play/record any games with friends, but also eye catching enough to make new ones too at any LAN event. So after a bit of tossing back and forth a few ideas, I settled on theming my mod around one of the first big AIs Deep Blue.

The overall aesthetic of the build is to combine a a sleek looking tech design with the game of chess. Allowing the build to have the performance and the eye catching appeal to stand out among PCs at any LAN fest. With the primary color scheme build around the Intel blue, with the case being a slick sliver. A laser etched chess board into the case allows for the custom 3D printed chess pieces with magnets to stick on the board allowing a game to be played while the tower is still standing. Although you can always lay the tower on its side to play too, but where is the fun in that?

The other focus of the build besides the aesthetically pleasing look, is the LAN element. The computer itself needs to be able to be set up anywhere. The liquid cooling built into the rig allows optimal performance no matter how hot the building gets. The intel WIFI 6 card allows for fast speeds even without being hooked up to ethernet, allowing Deep Blue to be dropped anywhere, a huge perk when it comes to LAN events.

Overall the primary focus of the build is for the mod to attract new friends and to play more games with people in the community. People go to LAN events to play games, so why not just mod a PC to have a game on it.

Methodology / Approach

My approach to the project is to build it step by step. Keep it simple at first then add more complexity as the project gets closer to finishing. I spent a lot of time theory crafting the build by following the advice L3P in an interview with Intel. LINK. He mentions in the interview that lighting materials and cooling often have the biggest impact on the build.

Internals

The core of every computer is the internals. So here is a basic list of parts I am planning on using in this build:

Arc A770

Intel Optane SSD x2

Intel Wifi 6 Card

Intel Core i9

Thermaltake RBG watercooling

Those pieces make up the core of the build. Alongside the internals I want to set up the inside of the case with an Intel blue color scheme. I just want the computer have the blue glow that radiates around the PC

The MOD

Ultimately a lot of the technologic sleek aspect will come from the clean cable management and the water cooling. But taking it to the next level will be modding the case. Using a laser etching machine on the metal back plate to create a chess board is the first step. Adding a thin led strip around the outside of the plate will cause the chessboard to light up though control through the PC. The other part is 3D printing custom chess pieces with a magnet base allowing for the chess pieces to stick to the case while the tower is standing.
